With the glittering shores of Lake Como and the thousand-year old abbey of Piona as backdrops, Aurora’s Challenge drew a sold-out crowd and sustained applause at Festival Musica sull’Acqua. Lopresti’s mime choreography drew praise as “a stroke of genius” and “always clear and effective.” Based on a story written by the young artists of the Festival, Aurora’s Challenge tells a classical hero story. Aurora must accomplish her dream of becoming a ballet dancer, but she must defeat many obstacles, including her own profound doubts. And she must find a way to accept the help of those whom she otherwise would have cast aside. Original score by Venezuelan composer, Felix Mendoza. Click here to read original Italian review.
