Telling a Story with Movement

Tony joined Academy of Sacred Drama artistic director, Jeremy Rhizor to discuss incorporating movement into Baroque oratorios which had remained unheard for over 300 years. Tony became the Academy’s movement director in 2019. He works with the singers and musicians to use their bodies to evoke the characters and emotions of the music.

Man at the Crossroads - Angel or Demon?

In November 2019, Tony joined Jeremy Rhizor and the Academy of Sacred Drama in New York for the American premiere of Antonio Gianettini’s L’huomo in bivio (Man at the Crossroad). A man must decide whether to follow his guardian angel (Tony) or a demon (Tony).

Gospel Without Words in Taizé

In France this summer at the ecumenical monastic community of Taizé, Tony led a cross-cultural, diverse group of people in a vigorous physical workshop designed to help them enter physically into well-known Gospel stories and themes. The physicality leads participants to experience more profoundly the emotions of the characters and to develop a contemporary human understanding of the story’s themes and lessons.

MACH Masterclass

Tony conducted a classical mime masterclass with the 65-member MACH Orchestra during the Festival Musica sull’Acqua on Lake Como this summer. MACH (Music Art Creativity Hub), funded by the Hilti Foundation, brings internationally renowned musicians together with young musicians at the beginnings of their careers for a week of intense rehearsal and training leading up to a major concert.
