Joy's Story

“ …a profoundly moving, artistically delicate rendering of a brutal story…”

- Miriam Giovanna, Founder and Director, Terre di Mezzo Publishing House, Milan

Tony choreographed and directed a silent theatre production of Joy’s Story, a true story of violence, abduction, courage, and hope at the Festival Musica sull’Acqua. Saved from infanticide by loving parents, Joy Ehikioya, a young Nigerian woman with albinism, was tormented throughout her childhood. As a young woman, she was kidnapped and endured a harrowing time in captivity. Joy joined the production, reading from her diary and singing one of her original songs. Original score by Felix Mendosa. Orchestra Giovanile del Festival prepared by Artistic Director Francesco Senese and conducted by Diego Matheuz. Joy’s text curated by Guido Babieri. “Dizzy” in Milan

Tony, with mime actress Cecilia Morato and violinist Francesco Senese, performed Dizziness at the Galleria Annunciata in Milan, Italy for the opening of Tempo e Suspensione / Time and Suspension. Based on an idea by exhibit artist/producer Francesca Giraudi, Dizziness tells the story of two art thieves who have amassed in their lair all the works in the exhibition. With Franceso’s music filling the room, Tony and Cecilia enter holding two of the works which they hang on the walls to complete the show. With their bodies, they communicate the vibrancy and emotion of the works, leading them to realize that they have always been in love with each other. Click for photos.
