About the Project

A coming-of-age prequel to Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat. Joseph, a poor country boy in the early 1900s, seeks to overcome his harsh reality with violin music – aided by his loving mother. But the joy of making music with his friends is threatened by the drum rolls of World War I. Their instruments of music become the tools of death and destruction. The soldier is born.

The score is an original composition by Cristiano Serino. Original story written by the young people of the Festival Musica sull’Acqua, in association with Milan’s Grande Fabbrica delle Parole, Francesca Frediani, Director. Set pieces and props by Velasco Vitali and the young people of the Festival Musica sull'Acqua.
